Nothing app, which does exactly as promised, has made its creator a cool $2 million – here’s how he did it.
By now, you’ve probably heard the success stories of everyday app inventors who made millions or billions from their amazing app ideas.
Indeed, the endless opportunities for making money from even the most simple app ideas are truly astounding.
And in terms of getting rich from a simple app idea, the winner of that award may go to Swedish app inventor Sven Karlsson.
Apparently focused on making his app idea as simple as possible, he created an app named “Nothing” that does…wait for it…almost nothing!
The Nothing app only displays the word “nothing” in white text on a black screen.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even change the color of the text to one of four different colors. Woohoo!
Despite the app being useless, hundreds of thousands of people have happily paid 99 cents for Nothing.
Karlsson, who is now reaping the success of his simple app idea, initially created the app as a bit of a joke.
He was originally inspired by the fact that many apps on the market are of little use to anyone, yet their creators are still making money.
So, Karlsson must have figured he could create the ultimate useless app and make money too.
By the way, if you like the story of Nothing, check out the inside story of a another “useless” app named Yo.
Raising over $1 million in venture capital funding and valued at $5 to $7 million dollars at its peak, Yo simply sends a notification to other users that says “Yo” (a few new features have been added to the latest version).
Sven Karlsson is just one of a growing list of creative, enterprising app inventors to strike gold by taking action and turning his simple app idea into reality.
