In the internet age – information, privacy, and identity theft protection is of great importance. But what can you do to prevent identity theft or avoid becoming a victim? Fortunately those are the exact problems Ken Ripp is tackling with his revolutionary app, GRiPiT. Find out how Ripp went from retired police detective to app inventor below.
According to the statistics, it’s almost guaranteed you or someone you know have been or will be a victim of identity theft.
Another alarming concern is that,
According to the 2018 Identity Fraud: Fraud Enters a New Era of Complexity from Javelin Strategy & Research, in 2017, there were 16.7 million victims of identity fraud, a record high that followed a previous record the year before. Criminals are engaging in complex identity fraud schemes that are leaving record numbers of victims in their wake. The amount stolen hit $16.8 billion last year as 30 percent of U.S. consumers were notified of a data breach last year, an increase of 12 percent from 2016. For the first time, more Social Security numbers were exposed than credit card numbers.” Source link
Ken Ripp was sick and tired of seeing people fall victim to identity theft and having no where to turn.
We recently talked to him to discuss the GRiPiT app and how it came to be.
Ripp discussed his background and expertise on the subject stating:
I am a retired Police Detective from an exclusive identity theft unit, which is one of the only exclusive identity theft units in the country having investigated thousands of identity theft and financial crimes cases.”
Who better to create the GRiPiT: Get Real Identity Theft Protection & Info Tech App than Ripp?
Ripp saw a need for information and education on the subject.
Ripp explained his idea stating:
My idea for the app has come as a criminal investigator who has been dealing with identity theft victims for the last ten years, where the victims are constantly being given misinformation by their financial institution, credit card company, and their local police departments. They are telling them there is nothing they can do or that they do not have jurisdiction because the crime occurred in another State which is absolutely incorrect and not in compliance with Federal or State law or the US Patriot Act. They are also consistently being told to pay for fraud alerts which don’t work and can cost over $1,000 per year. I felt that there was a need to help educate and facilitate proper distribution of information as it pertains to identity theft and financial crime. We exist to help the consumer get the facts and to adopt proper safeguards and free credit freezes which actually stop identity theft from happening for free!”
Since there wasn’t anything else like it on the market with the backing of an industry expert – he got to work.
Not knowing how to develop apps, Ripp needed to find an experienced and professional app developer.
Fortunately for him, he found BrainyApps!
Ripp explained how he found BrainyApps, stating:
I found out about BrainyApps through online research and a great initial experience through telephone conversations that allowed me to feel comfortable knowing that I found the right company to work with me.”
The rest, as they say, is history.
The app specialist, app architect, and the team of app developers got to work to bring Ripp’s amazing app idea to life.
After months of hard work, determination, and team work – his app launched for Android devices on the Google Play store.
